Ms. Cao performs technical analysis for attorneys and assists in the provision of technical advice to clients in patent litigation and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office matters. She has worked closely with attorneys in small teams handling a number of patent litigation matters for firm clients. Her work includes reviewing prior art; performing invalidity analyses; drafting claim charts, infringement contentions, noninfringement contentions, and invalidity contentions; and analyzing technical documents for production, claim-construction, and post-grant proceeding purposes. As an experienced programmer, Ms. Cao is often called on to review and analyze source code. She has assisted in the representation of U.S. and Chinese manufacturers in various patent litigation matters, many of them involving multiple defendants and multiple patents. Ms. Cao has also assisted in drafting an inter partes review petitions against various patents asserted asserted against her client.

Prior to joining Upshaw PLLC, Ms. Cao worked for another patent litigation boutique. Before becoming involved in patent litigation, she worked as a system engineer in the consumer electronics industry for over eight years. During this time, Ms. Cao gained an in-depth knowledge of embedded system technical development. Her technical expertise covers both hardware engineering and firmware programming such as source code development.
